Resurfacing of roads in Ruyterwacht

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents, road users and the public of the resurfacing of various roads in Ruyterwacht. The roadworks are planned to take place from today, 19 October 2023, until Friday, 15 December 2023, between 07:30 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday. If the need for night work arises, it will be done between 19:00 and 06:00, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. Work may also be scheduled over weekends.

The resurfacing will be done on the following roads:

Drommedaris, between Epping Avenue and Cecil Rhodes.
Princess Elizabeth, between Texel and Meiring.
Princess Elizabeth, between Cogman and Paul Kruger.
Princess Margaret, between Oranje and Meiring.
Princess Margaret, between Cogman and Aliwal.
Queens, between Cogman and Meiring.
Meiring, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Cogman, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Saldanha, between Texel and Nassau.
Mitchell, between Texel and Jan van Riebeeck.
David Baird, between Dromedaris and Livingstone.
Livingstone, between David Baird and before the Wavern Speedbump.
Aliwal, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Barkley, between Princess Margaret and King George.
Breda, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Nassau, between Saldanha and Paul Kruger.
Weatherley, between Princess Margaret and Grens.
Maclear, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Malmesbury, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Carnavon, between Princess Margaret and Texel.
Richmond, between Princess Margaret and Princess Elizabeth.
Oranje, between Texel and Grens.
Vereeniging Circle, between Jan Van Riebeeck and Jan van Riebeeck as well as Showground between the parking entrance and Viking.

The scope of the work to be done comprises:

Milling and removal of the existing road surface.
Resurfacing the road with a new asphalt surface.
All road markings removed during the process will be reinstated with retro-reflective road markings.

Road users are asked to adhere to the traffic accommodation signage and speed limits.

'Affected residents will have access to their properties at all times and temporary deviations will be arranged should the need arise. Our aim in doing this work is to improve the road safety conditions and decrease costs for motorists. I would like to thank all affected road users for their patience over the next eight weeks,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
